Danny Alexander – Fletcher Class of 1985 Remembered.
Daniel Morehead “Danny” Alexander, 48, passed away suddenly on May 11 at his home in Atlantic Beach. Born in Tallahassee to John Alexander and Gypsy Alexander, Danny and his family moved to the Beaches when he was three years old.
Danny was a 1986 graduate of Nease High School and attended Florida Community College at Jacksonville. He was a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and enjoyed a nearly 20-year career in the information technology field, most recently as Executive Director of Technical Operations at MSC/OneCall in Jacksonville.
A lifelong resident of the Jacksonville area, Danny was an avid surfer and musician and enjoyed traveling. He also loved to entertain friends and family at his home and will best be remembered for his warm smile, gracious hospitality, and love of family and friends.
Danny was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, Thomas H. Hulihan, Jr.; and all four grandparents, including Margaret Chandler “Peggy” Stone of Atlantic Beach. He is survived by his children, Bryce (17), Brittany (14), and London Alexander (9); his fiancée, Marissa Weightman and her daughter, Sierra; his mother, Gypsy Alexander of Ponte Vedra Beach; two sisters, Chan Alexander (Dan Pietro) of Jacksonville and Ginny Alexander of Ponte Vedra Beach; two brothers, Tom Rankin of Ponte Vedra Beach and Jay Alexander (Mark Hampton) of Chestertown, MD; and three stepbrothers, Tommy Hulihan (Kelly), Michael Hulihan (Tina), and Scott Hulihan (Tracy).
Family and friends will gather at Mickler’s Landing at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 29 for a memorial paddle out. All are invited to participate, either in the water or on the beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to an education fund established in Danny’s memory.
